GARY VAYNERCHUK (US)

Serial Entrepreneur, CEO of VaynerMedia & VaynerX

One of the world’s leading marketing experts, Gary Vaynerchuk has built his career by being exactly where consumer attention is going next.

Just out of college, Gary grew his family wine business from a $4M to a $45M business in just five years. Now, he runs VaynerMedia, one of the world’s hottest digital agencies. Along the way, Gary became a prolific angel investor and venture capitalist, investing in companies including Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Uber and Venmo and co-founding the VaynerRSE fund.

Gary will soon appear with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba and will.i.am on Apple’s original series “Planet of the Apps,” launching in spring 2017.

In addition to running digital agency VaynerMedia, Gary also serves as CEO of holding company VaynerX, which houses VaynerMedia and The Gallery, a new publishing company Gary started after acquiring leading women’s lifestyle property PureWow in January 2017, with his business partners at RSE Ventures. Gary also serves as a partner in athlete representation agency VaynerSports and restaurant reservations app Resy.

NIKLAS ZENNSTRÖM (UK)

CEO and Founding Partner at Atomico

Niklas Zennström is CEO and Founding Partner at Atomico. He is an experienced technology investor and entrepreneur, having previously co-founded and managed globally successful technology companies including Skype, Kazaa and Joltid.
In 2006, Niklas founded the venture capital firm, Atomico, to help entrepreneurs, primarily from Europe, to scale their businesses globally. Atomico has partnered with and supported a growing number of highly successful technology companies, including Supercell, Klarna, Rovio, ofo and many more. It raised its fourth fund in 2016, which was the largest independent venture capital fund ever raised in Europe. In addition to overseeing Atomico’s strategy, he works closely with a number of founders of portfolio companies and sits on the boards of Rovio, Mapillary, Pipedrive, Lilium and Farmdrop. Niklas is most excited about founders that are solving major world problems using digital technology.

Prior to Atomico, Niklas co-founded Skype, which became the first truly global category winning online company to be founded outside the US. He has also co-founded and managed other globally successful technology businesses, including Kazaa and Joltid. Niklas helps support the European tech ecosystem as President of the European Tech Alliance (EUTA), a group of fast-growing tech companies that have all been built in Europe.

In 2007, he co-founded Zennström Philanthropies with his wife, Catherine. They invest strategically in two areas: human rights and the environment. Niklas focuses primarily on sustainability projects, supporting organisations that are tackling issues such as climate change and the state of the oceans. The foundation is also funding a professorship at Uppsala University to establish an academic environment focused on climate change leadership.

Niklas also founded the Race for the Baltic, a foundation for a well-managed and sustainable Baltic Sea, one of the most threatened major bodies of water in the world.

Niklas is also a keen yachtsman, and has won four World Championships with his yacht racing team, Rán.

Niklas holds dual degrees in Business and MSc Engineering Physics/Computer Science from Uppsala University in Sweden, and he spent his final year at the University of Michigan.

ANN WINBLAD (US)

Managing Director of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners

Ann Winblad is a Managing Director of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, a venture capital firm she co-founded in 1989. She is a well-known and respected software industry entrepreneur and technology leader. Her background and over 30 years of experience in the software industry have been chronicled in many national and international business publications.

Hummer Winblad Venture Partners was the first venture firm focused exclusively on software. In her 27 year career as a venture capitalist, Ann’s firm has launched over 160 enterprise software companies and led investments that pioneered successful companies across the enterprise software sector: Business Intelligence, Analytics, Software Development, Integration, Data Center Optimization, Cloud Computing and Security.

Ann began her career as a systems programmer at the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis. In 1976 Ann co-founded Open Systems, Inc., a top selling accounting software company. After the acquisition of Open Systems by UCCEL (a NYSE company), Ann served as a strategy consultant for clients including IBM, Microsoft, Price Waterhouse, and numerous start-ups. In addition, Ann has co-authored the book Object-Oriented Software and has written articles for numerous publications.

Ann received a B.A. in Mathematics and in Business Administration from the St. Catherine University, as well as an M.A. in Education focused in International Economics from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. Ann also has an honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of St. Thomas.

Ann has served as a Director of numerous start-up and public companies and currently serves as a director of Ace Metrix, MuleSoft (NYSE: MULE), OptiMine, and Sonatype. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of St. Thomas and a Board member of the Richard Schulze Family Foundation. Ann is also a member of CNBC’s Platinum Group.

Hiroshi Saijou (US)

CEO and Managing Director at Yamaha Motor Ventures & Laboratory Silicon Valley

Hiroshi “Hiro” Saijou is CEO and Managing Director at Yamaha Motor Ventures & Laboratory Silicon Valley.

Prior to founding YMVSV, Hiro was a Division Manager at Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA where he led exploratory efforts in Silicon Valley. Hiro started his career at Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Iwata, Japan) where he worked for almost two decades on a broad array of surface mount technology and robotics efforts in addition to new business development efforts.

Hiro enjoys exploring the California Bay Area, sometimes with his golf clubs. He speaks at conferences frequently on bold, ambitious, sometimes crazy corporate innovation.

Hiro earned a software engineering degree from Kyushu University, one of Japan’s National Seven Universities.

Caterina Fake (US)

General Partner at Yes VC

Caterina Fake is an entrepreneur and investor. She is General Partner at Yes VC. She co-founded Flickr (acq. by Yahoo), almost certainly the best photo sharing application in the world, and Hunch (acq. by eBay), which built the taste graph for the internet. Her investments include Etsy (where she was Chairman until the IPO 2015), Kickstarter, Cloudera (IPO 2016), Blue Bottle Coffee (acq. Nestlé), and StackExchange.

Ilkka Paananen (FI)

CEO & Co-founder of Supercell

Ilkka Paananen is the CEO and co-founder of Supercell, the Helsinki-based mobile games developer behind Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Boom Beach and Clash Royale. Since its founding in 2010, Supercell’s four games have amassed 100m daily players and have remained in the global top 10 years after launch. In June 2016, Supercell became the first European technology start-up to reach a valuation of $10 billion.

In addition to his role at Supercell, Ilkka helps other entrepreneurs as both an investor and as an active member of the Helsinki-based startup community where he mentors and coaches other founders. Alongside his co-founder Mikko Kodisoja, he has established the We Foundation to fight social inequality and help marginalized children and families in Finland.

Prior to founding Supercell, he was the CEO & co-founder of Finnish games developer Sumea, which was later acquired by Digital Chocolate, where he worked as President until 2010.

Jon von Tetzchner (IS/NO)

Co-founder and CEO of Vivaldi Technologies

Industry pioneer and browser visionary, Jon von Tetzchner is co-founder and CEO of Vivaldi Technologies, the company behind the Vivaldi web browser and other services for the web’s most demanding and savviest users.

Jon co-founded Opera Software where he served as CEO for 15 years. Jon steered Opera from a small basement nook shared into a global company with 750 employees in 13 countries. Under his leadership, Opera was an early pioneer in mobile web browsing and more than 350 million people now use the Opera web browser.

After Opera, Jon decided to give back by helping other entrepreneurs realize their dreams. He invests in promising start-ups in Norway, the U.S. and in his native Iceland. To provide further support for these growing companies, Jon established Innovation House, unique co-working spaces located in Reykjavik, Iceland and Boston.

Watching other entrepreneurs grow their businesses inspired Jon to return to his original desire: helping people get more from the web through a better and smarter web browser. With some of his original team from Opera, Jon has returned to the industry that launched his career.

Jon is now steering Vivaldi which was came out with its 1.0 version in April 2016. He and his team are making a personal and a feature – rich browser that takes into consideration the needs of every user. Vivaldi is self-funded and aims to be this way where the employees hold equity.

He is a passionate technology entrepreneur committed to creating innovative and elegant solutions on the web and through the web – transforming various projects through an unmatched partnership of humanity, design and technology.

Sara Resvik (SE)

Investment Manager at Industrifonden

Sara sees technology as a powerful tool that has the potential to make life easier, clearer and more interesting. When it comes to investing, she looks for progressive entrepreneurs building cutting-edge businesses. Her areas of interest include digital marketplaces, media and entertainment and emerging SaaS. She also applies her experience in scaling tech startups in other areas, like social impact.

Before joining Industrifonden in 2015, Sara worked with investments for Schibsted Growth in Paris and business development and innovation for Blocket (online classifieds) and Aftonbladet (an online newspaper). She holds a Master of Science in Technology Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business and Administration, both from Lund University.

Outside of Industrifonden Sara is Chairman of the Board for Welcome App, an app that uses technology to help newcomers integrate into Swedish society.
