Lieutenant General Timo Rotonen, joined the Finnish Defence Forces in 1978, studied
in the Finnish Military Academy 1979-82 and graduated as a lieutenant in 1982. He has
held various positions in GBAD, materiel and logistics units and twice served in UN
missions on Balkans and in the Middle East. Also he has studied in Nato Defence
College/Italy and Naval Post Graduate School/USA.
His experience in Finnish Defence Forces is over 40 years and he has held several top
level positions from operational to strategic level. More than 25 years his duties were
linked to military logistics, materiel projects & procurement, strategic partnership,
security of supply, defence industry, etc.
Last 7 years in service he was responsible for all FDF logistics and armaments,
procurement and logistics planning.
Since retirement from service 2020 he has actively participated to several studies
around defence industry and security of supply. Also he has wide experience from
working as a member of board in two strategic partrner companies, providing services
to the FDF.
