Karim has been active in the forefront of enzyme research for more than a decade, collaborating with AstraZeneca, Cambrex and BASF before co-founding EnginZyme in 2014. His publications and patents describe a variety of topics (enzyme immobilization, engineering, chemical synthesis, quantum mechanical modeling), and the invention of the EziG enzyme carrier (the basis of EnginZyme). Karim has a PhD degree from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and performed postdoctoral research at the Arrhenius Laboratory at Stockholm University
